Utah Constitution Party Utah Constitution Party

Urgent Message from the State Chairman

I am writing to you regarding an urgent and extremely important matter. As most of you know, in order for a political party to maintain ballot position in Utah any one candidate of that party needs to garner a minimum of 2% of the total vote cast for all U S Congressional candidates in the state. With Utah having three Congressmen that means that any one candidate of the Constitution Party must win at least 2% of all the votes cast in all three of those races. The only way this can feasibly be accomplished is to run a statewide candidate. This translates into the necessity of running a candidate for either governor or for the U S Senate. With Utah being considered a model party for the Constitution Party nationwide, it is imperative that the party run a candidate for one of those two positions. The U S Senate race is the most logical of those options for us to pursue.

Scott Bradley has agreed to again serve as our candidate for the U S Senate, but he can do so only if he has the solid backing of our party members. This means that we as members of the party will need to support him financially in his campaign in everyway that we possibly can. We need to be able to ensure that he can count on a steady flow of funds into his campaign so that he can effectively deliver the message of returning to and restoring the sound constitutional principles upon which this nation was established.

One of the best ways for this to happen is to have as many good candidates as possible file for the state house and state senate races. Beginning at the county level we want to begin teaching classes on the Constitution from Scott's book "To Preserve the Nation," and the supporting DVD's, CD's and other materials that go along with that course. Our county officers, state senate and state house candidates and our local county candidates need to lead out on this. With a little bit of training these people will become class facilitators. The materials are designed so that expert instructors are not necessary. Including the Introductory Lecture, there are 17 classes in all. Each person attending will be asked to bring at least one new person with them to the following class even though those people did not see the first one. In time, everyone will have been able to see all 17 lessons. As new volunteer facilitators are located, they can then begin classes in their own homes and this is how we will be able to get our message out to the public. The process will be repeated again and again. By the end of the campaign we need to have these classes being taught in every neighborhood across the state that we possibly can. We know that the Constitution Party message resonates with the public, but we need to bring it to them first.

There is a seismic political shift that is sweeping over this nation. The dimensions of this dramatic shift are beginning to show in the national polls, but the major parties are hoping that the public will not become aware of what is happening. According to Ballot Access News over two million Republicans have changed their registration from the Republican Party since the 2008 Presidential Election. Even in Utah an October, 2009 voter registration report shows a decline of 58,000 registered Republican Party voters. The voter registration of Democratic voters in Utah has also declined but to a lesser amount. The beneficiaries of this change have been an increase in the voter registration in the Constitution and Libertarian Parties and an increase in the number of voters who consider themselves Independents. Voter registration of those two parties is now nearing the 6,000 mark.

What is more astonishing is that a growing number of national polls are showing that as many as one in five voters now say they would rather sit out an election rather than to vote for the candidate of either major party. What does this all mean? It means that the argument can no longer be made that a third party will draw votes away from the less liberal of the two major party candidates. This is indeed a monumental shift in the attitude of today's voters. It is our intent to give these voters a reason to feel good about voting again. In the 2008 Presidential Election, Chuck Baldwin was not on the ballot in such populous states as CA, PA, NY, TX, NC, and IN and yet the party garnered an all-time high number of votes. Furthermore, in 27 of the 37 states in which the party was on the ballot, the party received a new record high in votes. The Western States led the rest of the nation in that increase. A sample of this is our own experience in getting the Constitution Party ballot qualified in Wyoming, one of the most difficult of all states to qualify a new political party. As many as one in three registered voters in that state who are asked sign the petition to allow the CP to be recognized in that state will do so. In one county alone nearly 16% of those who voted in the 2008 Presidential Election have signed the petition to get the CP on the WY 2010 ballot, and the petition drive is not yet over. This is all being done on a volunteer basis. No third party has ever gained ballot position on a volunteer basis in Wyoming before.

My message to each of you is that never before in our lifetime has there been a window of opportunity to build a new strong party as there is between now and 2012. Economic conditions are going to deteriorate far more than they have so far, and it is when people begin hurting, as they surely will in the coming months, that they will be willing to listen to and subsequently embrace the message that the Constitution Party has to offer. We could not ask for a more gifted or knowledgeable candidate than Scott Bradley. His knowledge of the history of our nation and the proper understanding of the writings of our Founding Fathers is most impressive.

My Challenge to Each of our Party Members

What does this mean to each of us? It means that each of us needs to look deep into our hearts and souls and seriously ask how much our freedom and liberty is worth to us. Then we need to each pledge to ourselves, to our God, and to our county what we will do to restore that which our Founding Fathers gave us. We need for each of you to give every month on a steady and consistence basis whatever you can give to the CP and to the Scott Bradley campaign. If only five hundred of our members gave just $25.00 per month that would bring in $12,500.00 monthly for the campaign. Five dollars of that needs to be donated to either your county or your state party and the other $20.00 needs to be donated directly to the candidate. If you can not donate that much then please donate what you are able to, but do so on a regular and consistent basis. We must also be willing to share our message with neighbors, family and friends and invite them into our homes and to share this message with them.

It means that we need to open our homes to hold precinct caucus meetings on March 23rd and elect county and state delegates who will support Scott and our other candidates in this effort. In 2006, Scott ran for the U S Senate at great personal sacrifice. Many people have requested that he run for the U S Senate seat again this year. He is willing to do so, but only if the rest of us carry our share of the financial load. We have been working for months to prepare for the upcoming challenges that we now face. We expect to at least quadruple the number of precinct caucus meetings over what was held in 2006. Those meetings are less than three weeks away. We will keep an updated listing on our new web site of the precinct meeting locations.

Can we count on your support? The first thing we need to do is to raise funds to cover the US Senate filing fee, which is $1,305.00. Scott is not seeking to run for the office of the U S Senate. He would much rather not run at all. However, neither will he reject the call of his country to serve. We need to follow the advice given us by the Founding Fathers in that we as a people need to seek out from among us men who are good, honest and above all, wise and then approach them and ask them to represent our voice in the office to which we elect them. We have approached not only Scott, all of our candidates in this same spirit and feel confident that many will step forward in this hour of our nation's greatest need. Never, since the Revolutionary War, has our nation been in such danger as today, and things will not begin to change until we again step forward and shoulder the responsibilities that we have for too long passed on to government. If we are going to change the disastrous course our nation is following, we must begin at the grassroots level. We must first put our homes in order, then our local city councils and our county and state governments. Once this is accomplished, our national problems will pretty much take care of themselves. This will not be easy, but there is no other alternative if we are going to heal our nation.

Make your checks payable to the Constitution Party of Utah or to the Scott Bradley for US Senate Campaign and mail them to the Constitution Party, P O Box 1215 Bountiful, UT 84010. Please do so without delay and pass this message on to others. The McCain-Feingold Act limits the amount of a donation from an individual to any Federal Candidate to $2,300.00. Also required is the donor's occupation and employer. If the person is retired or self employed, he may simply so state that he is. We will keep you updated on our progress periodically on our state web site, which is www.cputah.org.

.

My sincere thanks and deepest appreciation to each of you.

Your State Chairman,

Frank Fluckiger
