David Armstrong

Utah House of Representatives District 17

Honor God
Defend the Family
Restore the Republic

Platform:

  1. Uphold the Constitution - The US Constitution and the Utah state constitution are the operating instructions for our state government. I will know and abide by these documents and judge all legislation by these standards.
  2. Limit Government - The prime directive of government at all levels is to protect all citizens in their rights and to ensure their liberties. We the people have unalienable, God-given rights to Life, Liberty, and Property. Government's job is to protect those rights, and not to proscribe and regulate them. I will work to remove unnecessary laws that infringe on our rights and liberties as citizens, families, property owners, and businesses. I will promote free enterprise and enact only those laws that are in harmony with the Constitutions of the state and nation.
  3. Cut Taxes and Reduce Spending - Government does not create wealth; it consumes it. We need to keep earnings in the hands of the laborer and profits in the hands of the businesses so they can invest and grow. We need to get people out of the public sector and off the public payroll and get them to work in the private sector so that our economy can grow again. These things can happen only if we break the deadly societal addiction to government money. I will work to shrink the size of the state government and to reduce or eliminate our dependency on the federal government.

Do NOT Vote For Me If You Expect Me To:

  • Open the public treasury to take care of your every need.
  • Subsidize businesses and enterprises that cannot make a profit on their on in the free market.
  • Follow the status quo of tax and spend.
  • Ignore the people in my district and quietly and dutifully follow a party leader.
  • Make life fair.
  • Create employment by adding more jobs to the public payroll.
  • Be soft on illegal immigration and the unfair competition that results in business and employment.
  • Hand over one more acre of Utah land to the federal government for another park, momument, or wilderness preserve.
  • Put this state into debt through bonds and other borrowing  that obligate the tax payers and increase the financial burden on future generations.
  • Bow to environmentalists and other special interests who do not have an interest in the economic and personal welfare of the citizens of this state.

You Have A Choice:

This year you do not have to choose between a liberal Democrat and a moderate Republican. In November there will be two names on the ballot for House District 17. One stands for things as they have always been, the other stands for things as they ought to be. One is a hand-picked member of the ruling party in the state, the other is an independent, conservative maverick who is ready to make a difference and speak up and lead out on critical issues. One is well funded by Salt Lake big business, the other wants to represent the people who live and work in Davis County and will not take money from outside interests and political pressure groups. One represents politics  as ususal, the other represents principles and the need for fundamental change (not "Obama Change", but a return to the principles of the Constitution and the Founding Fathers that made this the greatest nation on earth).

If you believe in Constitutional principles, limited government, free enterprise, ending the addiction to feeding at the public trough, pushing Washington back within its intended Constitutional boundaries, a Constitutional Republic of sovereign states (not a "social democracy"), one nation under God (and not under the President or the Supreme Court or a council of czars or any other entity or usurper), and having faith in the American people and the citizens of Utah to stand on their own two feet and rebuild our country, then I am your candidate.

On the other hand, if you like things the way they are and they way they are going, then you can continue to do what you have always done and get what you have always gotten.

Your Vote Will Count:

Our vote is a sacred responsibility. We each stand accountable to our Creator for the liberty and the franchise that He has entrusted to us. In the Final Judgment, He will not ask us whether we voted for the winner or the straight party ticket. He will ask if we voted our conscience and did the right thing.

You do not have to worry in November about "splitting the conservative vote" in District 17 and letting a liberal Democrat slip into office. This year you can vote for an individual and for principles without concern for party. This year, you can do the right thing.

I urge you to look at people rather than parties during this crucial election.
I urge you to vote for principles rather than politics.
I urge you to elect a leader and a fighter to be your representative in the Utah legislature.
I urge you to vote for David Armstrong.

We cannot wait for Washington to wake up on their own. We must shake them awake.
We must free ourselves from the addiction of entitlement.
We must break the vicious cycle of ever growing government that sucks the life out of the economy.
We must get public workers back into the private sector.
We must create wealth, not dependence.
