Concurrent Resolution Supporting [U.S.] Balanced Budget Constitutional Amendment. It’s bad cosmetics. My Rep. said he read the Utah bill and Hatch’s bill, but then couldn’t answer simple questions about them. Go figure. The bill repeats the contents of S.J.RES.10, Hatch’s Proposed Amendment (co-sponsored by Sen. Mike Lee and others).

I would like to share some thoughts with you today about the motto of the Utah State Constitution Party:
Promoting Personal Prosperity Through the Constitution.
This may seem a bit different to the person seeing this, but to me, it makes complete sense. What does the Constitution of the United States do but to provide for us as individual citizens the opportunity to get ahead and have the opportunity to do as we like, to be given the opportunity to succeed - or just as importantly, to fail, in whatever pursuit we desire. We are indeed unique in the world in how our government has been organized. We are a republic -- not a democracy -- not a socialist or commun
ist state -- not a dictatorship, a monarchy or a religious oligarchy. We are unique as a Republic, but as Franklin wisely noted, we are so, only as long as we can keep it.

From time immemorial, history has recorded the birth, lifetime and death of many civilizations. All of them without exception have experienced similar life cycles. In his book, Circle of Democracy, Alexander Tytler explained it thusly:
20-4-2011 SNOPES EXPOSED AGAIN
The time has come to check out Snopes!
Ya' don't suppose it might not be a good time to take a second look at some of the stuff that got kicked in the ditch by Snopes, do ya'?
We've known that it was owned by a lefty couple but hadn't known it is financed by Soros!
Snopes is heavily financed by George Soros; a big time supporter of Obama!
6-4-2011 BUT IT HAS BIPARTISAN SUPPORT!
by Robert Peck, Chairman, Constitution Party of Washington
A friend recently directed my attention to a YouTube video clip of a U.S. Senate hearing in which newly elected Senator, Rand Paul, unloaded a barge of righteous indignation on a bureaucrat from one of those multitude of federal agencies that seem determined to regulate every facet of our lives. While Senator Paul’s grilling of Kathleen Hogan from the Department of Energy was enjoyable enough to watch, I found Ms. Hogan’s response to the Senator to be the most telling part of the video.

23-3-2011 Libya and the Constitution
James Madison warned us that the power of declaring war must be kept away from the executive branch when he wrote to Thomas Jefferson:
“The constitution supposes, what the history of all governments demonstrates, that the executive is the branch of power most interested in war, and most prone to it. It has accordingly with studied care vested the question of war in the legislature.”
With military action taking place in Libya right now, the essential question must be asked: Is it even Constitutional? For those of you who don’t want to read more than a sentence or two, here’s the short answer. Absolutely not.

2-2-2011 Why Nullification?
By Wallace Hoffman (January 30, 2011)
When the Congress under President John Adams passed the unconstitutional Alien and Sedition Acts, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison wrote the Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions in which those states nullified that act. This was the proper thing to do, since when our government was established, the states were part of a system of checks and balances in which the states had the power to nullify unconstitutional laws. Then when Jefferson succeeded Adams as president, he had the Alien and Sedition Acts revo
ked.

12-1-2011 The GOP's last stand
* Launch an assault on Obama or be swept into the dustbin of history *
The article below was forwarded to me by one of our national executive committee members, Thom Holmes.
The article was written by Jeffrey T. Kuhner who is a columnist at The Washington Times and president of the Edmund Burke Institute.
"In short, the GOP must become a genuine conservative party - one committed to returning America to its free-market, small-government and constitutional roots. Substance trumps symbolism. The country is seething with revulsion and anger at the political class. Middle America rightly senses we are drifting toward national bankruptcy and social turmoil - similar to what is happening across Europe. We are losing our country. Republicans need to understand that the populist revolt embodied by the Tea Party mo
vement is not passing away; rather, it is permanent and real.
If the GOP cannot roll back Obamaism and bring an end to out-of-control spending, Tea Partyers will find a party that can."
