Constitution Party of Utah State Convention 2009

Posted 24 May 2009

By Frank Fluckiger, state chairperson

My sincere thanks to each of you for all you did to make the state convention successful.  Thanks,
too, to each of the committee chairs and members of the platform and by -laws for the hard work you did. A special thanks to Leonard Olds and to Warren Rogers is certainly due them. Thanks also to each of you who took on special assignments for the convention.  David Perry did the programs, ran the electrical set up and did the conducting. Leonard Olds did a remarkable job of registering the delegates. Donna Coe and Gary Shumway supervised the balloting, which I thought went amazingly well. Suzette Allen helped with the literature and other early set up. Reldon White h andled the county signs, which turned out to be very helpful. There were others who helped as well, and even though not mentioned by name, their help was very much appreciated.

I can not thank Judy Brown enough for the terrific job she has done as party secretary.  She is going to be sorely missed in future meetings.  A special thanks  goe s to her husband, Jim, for his support of her in that position. To be honest, I was very taken aback when I learned that Judy will no longer be a part of the Executive Committee. Her shoes are going to be very difficult to fill.

There were a total of 99 state delegates in attendance and just over 20 guests for a total of about 120 people at the convention.  This was fewer than I had hoped for, but we were competing with a number of other events taking place at the same time. Fifteen of the 29 counties were present. Summit and Wayne County are to be complimented in that all of the delegates from their counties were present.

Please visit the Contact Us page for a complete list of the new state and county officers.

Two important pieces of business were transacted during the convention. We discussed and voted on changes to the party by-laws, and we voted on revised statements of the state par ty platform. More information on the by-laws and the platform will be published in the near future.

The keynote speaker was Stephen Pratt, who addressed the topic "Federalist, Anti-Federalist and That Troublesome Word Sovereignty." Other excellent speakers included Jim Noorlande r, 2008 3rd Congressional District candidate, who spoke on "Liberty, Freedom - Differences", and Scott Bradley, 2006 US Senate candidate, "Diffusing the Passions of Democracy or You Have a Republic if You Can Keep It."

Election Results - CP Retains Ballot Position in Utah

Greetings Everyone:

I had wanted to get this off the day following the Election, but I just did not have time and did not have all of the information that I wanted to send yet. First of all, see the message below. It is an email from Chuck Baldwin thanking the Utah CP members for coming in third place in the presidential race polling more votes than  either Ralph Nader or Bob Barr. We were the only state in the nation to do so. Also see my comm ents following Chuck's remarks.

I can not thank you all enough for doing what you did to achieve what we have done in Utah. In view of how poorly the third parties did in the other states, it is doubly impressiv e what we were able to achieve here. Both Nader and Barr were expected to do much better nation wide than Baldwin and yet that is not what happened.

Here are the votes totals that we I have gotten thus far:

Top 4 Minor Candidates
(updated November 6, 2008: 98% Precincts Reporting Nationwide)

Libertarian Party

Constitution Party

Green Party

I got this information from Ballot Access News at http://w ww.ballot-access.org/

Both Nader and Barr were projected to win over 1,000,000 votes each. Baldwin was seldom included in the national polls and yet nationally he out polled the green party. There are yet two other things to consider. Write in votes for Baldwin are yet to be counted in 11 states and Nader and Barr were already on the ballot in nearly all of those states, so votes they received are already counted. In addition to this, Alan Keyes rathe r than Baldwin was on the ballot in California and he received 34,000 votes that would have almost certainly otherwise gone to Baldwin. I have not yet had a chance to organize all of the data that I need to, but I think I am safe to say that the CP incre ased our presidential vote total over the 2004 presidential vote by a higher percentage by far than any of the other third parties.

We did this in spite of a nearly total news black out and very little funding. The DVD's that we circulated had a huge impact.

Below is a site you can all go to view the presidential election results state by state. I encourage each of you to take some time and review the results. This will emphasize that third parties did much better in the West than elsewhere and I suspect that is also where the majority of the Baldwin/Castle votes came from. I will be able to tell more when I am able to get more detail.

Here is the website I referred to above: http://elections.nytimes.com/2008/results/president/map.html

Please click on each individual state for the vote totals and percentages. It soon becomes clear that the strength of The Constitution Party lies in the West. That is a trend we have witnessed in the past four years.

Results of the Utah Election

Below are the Utah Election Results for the CP for the major races:

President (For the Third Parties)

Chuck Baldwin (C0n) 11,131 or 1.26% This was the highest percentage for Chuck in the nation
Ralph Nader (Ind) 7,644 or 0.87%
Bob Barr (Lib) 6,461 or 0.73%
McKinnery (Green) 908 or 0.10%

U S Congressional Races

1st District Kirk Pearson 6,861 or 2.24%
2nd District Dennis Emery 2,731 or 0.85%
3rd District Jim Noorlander 15,887 or 6.04% Jim out polled his democratic candidate in Sanp ete County handily and came in third in Millard by a mere 52 votes.

State Auditor Richard Proctor 31,077 or 3.71%

We needed just one candidate to garner enough votes to equal two percent of the total votes cast for all of the U S Congressional Candidates. Based on the figures that we had at t hat time, that came to 17,403 votes. With Richard winning 31,077 votes, the Constitution Party has retained ballot position. In the 2006 General election both Scott Bradley, our U S Senate Candidate and Jim Noorlander who ran for the same office this yea r both qualified the party to retain ballot position.

For your information it is very difficult for third parties to retain ballot position during a presidential election. In 2004 the CP retained ballot position in just thirteen stat es. To the best of my knowledge we have retained ballot position in 20 states this year. That is truly remarkable.

Leonard Olds also polled in excess of 6,000 votes in his race for Salt Lake County Mayor. I do not have the exact vote totals. That was also over 2%.

Here is a link to the Utah State Elections Web site that provides the election results for all of the Federal, State wide and State Senate and State House races. Again I encourage you to take some time and review those election results.

We were very weak in Utah, Davis and Weber Counties. We need to make huge headway in building a stronger party in those counties. The county that really shown this year was Cache County. Had we been able to do as well state wide as we did in Cache County our presidential candidate would have garnered more votes than all the third parties combined. That really would have set our state apart from the other states. Salt Lake County also did well. We can and will do this in the coming 2010 election. Phil Betz and Scott Bradley and their team are to be commended on the great work that their people did. Had we done as well in Utah County as we did in Cache County, Jim Noorlander would have also qualified the party again for ballot position. Jim ran a remarkable race and has brought many new people in to the party as a result of his work. Many new referrals came into the party due to the efforts made in Salt Lake and Utah Counties.

Here is the web site http://www.el ectionresults.utah.gov/xmlData/main.html

Take some time to review this as well. I would strongly encourage you all to share this Newsletter with others. It may well be the only source of encouraging news that your friend s and family will hear about the third party election results.

Once again my sincere thanks to all of you,

Frank Fluckiger
CP Utah State Chairman

The 90-minute debate will focus on the issues that distinguish Chuck Baldwin from the major and minor party presidential candidates in the race: opposition to the so-called 'bail- outs', opposition to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, support for secure borders, the overturning of Roe v Wade, and a return to limited, Constitutional government.

In addition to Baldwin, the other invited candidates are Republican Party nominee John McCain, Democratic Party nominee Barack Obama, Independent Ralph Nader, the Green Party's Cy nthia McKinney, and the Libertarian Party's Bob Barr.

Constitution Party's Chuck Baldwin Set To Dent 'Big Box' Candidates

Grand Rapids, MI (September 22, 2008) Former GOP presidential candidate, Texas Congressman Ron Paul announced today he is endorsing Constitution Party presidential candidat e Chuck Baldwin. ( http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog/?p=582#more-582)

In a letter to supporters, Paul wrote, "I'm supporting Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party

Paul went on to say, "There is no real choice between the two major parties and their nominees, only the rhetoric varies. The amazingly long campaign is designed to make sure the real issues are ignored."

Baldwin, a conservative commentator, columnist and pastor of a church in Pensacola, FL, campaigned for Ron Paul during the congressman's run for president. After receiving Paul's endorsement, Baldwin said, "I am humbled and deeply grateful to Dr. Paul for his support. There could not be higher praise. I am committed to carrying on the Ron Paul Revolution for a return to constitutionally limited government.

The Constitution Party, is poised to offer voters a viable alternative to the two parties now controlling our government.

Baldwin noted, "Ron Paul's message resonated with people across the political spectrum. Likewise, our campaign embraces Americans of diverse political ideologies, spiritual paths and socio- economic groups - all who recognize the urgency of a return to the Constitution and the principles of personal liberty that document defines."

Baldwin, appearing recently on CNN's Lou Dobb's Tonight program was told by Dobbs: (Baldwin's view on immigration reform issues) was "a good reason to vote for you, I like that r eason." (Read a transcript , a nd view a YouTube clip of the show.)

Baldwin appeared at a recent Washington DC press conference with Congressman Ron Paul. Paul spoke about the need to bypass the two major party candidates this November and instead vote for a candidate such as Chuck Baldwin. See YouTube clip.)

Like Paul, Baldwin has taken a stand against unconstitutional foreign intervention, such as the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Both Baldwin and Paul have called for abolishing the IRS and the Federal Reserve, have spoken out against the recent financial "bailouts" and against unauthorized trade "agreements" such as NAFTA and GATT.

Chuck Baldwin supports Congressman Ron Paul's 'Sanctity of Life legislation',(H.R. 2597) opposing abortion, has received an 'A' rating from Gun Owners of America and an "excellent " grade from pro-secure borders group Numbers USA .

Another Bailout Picks America's Pockets

Published by Constitution Party, 19 September 2008

Las Vegas, NV - Constitution Party presidential candidate Chuc k Baldwin, scheduled to address this weekend's upcoming Conservative Leadership Conference in Las Vegas, NV, will comment on the latest government bailouts and the accelerating meltdown of the U.S. financial system.

Baldwin will speak to the annual gathering of conservative and libertarian political leaders Saturday, September 20th at 3 PM local time and is expected to say, "Our en tire financial system is based on an illusion, with a foundation built on quicksand. We spend more than we earn, we consume more than we produce, we borrow more than we save - and we cling to the fantasy that this can go on forever. The glue that holds t his crumbling scheme together is a fiat currency called the Federal Reserve Note, created out of thin air by an international banking cartel called the Federal Reserve. Since a 'note' is a debt, this leaves us with an obvious problem -

"That deer in the headlights look on the faces of Obama/Biden/McCain/Palin when discussing this crisis should tell Americans everything they need to know about these candidates. N ot one of them is letting on they know what's really happening, much less how to fix it!"

"In the last three years, the Federal Reserve has created over $4 trillion in new money out of absolutely nothing. As these huge new piles of phony money flood the banking system, the phony money already in circulation becomes worth even less, which leads to higher prices. We accept the vague term 'inflation' to describe this giant rip off, as if some immutable force of nature is the cause of our shrinking paychecks. But, make no mistake - This meltdown will ultimately spell disaster for every American."

The roller coaster ride began in earnest with the $60 billion Bear Stearns bailout, followed quickly by the $300 billion bailout of government's big mortgage/banker buddies last m onth. September started with the massive Freddie/Fannie bailout that will end up costing taxpayers somewhere between $500 billion to $1 trillion. On Monday, the fed brokered the Bank of America buyout of Merrill Lynch. Then just the other night, the fed announced the $85 billion bailout of AIG insurance, an enormous global entity with over $1.1 trillion in assets.

"So far, the only solution being talked about is more of the same failed monetary policies that got us into this mess in the first place - more fake money, more debt, more usury. It is time to demand a return to sound money. None of the other "Big Box" candidates is even talking about the most obvious place to begin the road to recovery, which is a return to the constitutional principal of sound money."

Baldwin, a conservative commentator, Internet columnist, talk show host and pastor appeared at a news conference in Washington, D.C. recently with former GOP presidential candidat e, Congressman Ron Paul (R-Tex.) Paul urged Americans to bypass both major party candidates and instead vote for a candidate such as Chuck Baldwin (See YouTube clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZ7fcbst3VE )

Appearing on CNN's popular Lou Dobbs Tonight program while in Washington, Baldwin was told by Dobbs, Americans had "a good reason" to vote for him. (See Lou Dobbs TV transcriptat and a YouTube clipof the show.) Baldwin will address the 4 day CLC , held at the Tusca ny Suites (225- E. Flamingo Rd) in Las Vegas, NV.

More than 50 speakers will address the participants on such topics as grassroots lobbying, government accountability and media bias.(See the agenda.) Baldwin will join speakers such as Libertarian presidential candida te Bob Barr and Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform.

Good Reasons to Vote 3rd Party< /p>

In the following two videos, Republican McCain's penchant for war is pitted against Democrat Obama's plan for global socialism. If there are only two choices in November, we must choose between war and socialism.

Barack Obama's global poverty act:

Thankfully, there is a third choice. Constitution Party candidate Chuck Baldwin opposes both war and socialism. We must exercise our sacred franchise by voting our conscience, and not simply pick the lesser of two evils.

Chuck Baldwin Agrees With Ron Paul on Four Key Pr inciples

Posted 10 September 2008 on Independ ent Political Report

Ron Paul's Campaign For Liberty has brought the presidential candidates of the Constitution and Green parties together, along with independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader, on a four-point platform of consensus:

The Republican/Democrat duopoly has, for far too long, ignored the most important issues facing our nation.  However, alternate candidates Chuck Baldwin, Cynthia McKin ney, and Ralph Nader agree with Ron Paul on four key principles central to the health of our nation. These principles should be key in the considerations of every voter this November and in every election.

Foreign Policy: The Iraq War must end as quickly as possible with removal of all our soldiers from the region. We must initiate the return of our soldiers from around the w orld, including Korea, Japan, Europe and the entire Middle East. We must cease the war propaganda, threats of a blockade and plans for attacks on Iran, nor should we re-ignite the cold war with Russia over Georgia. We must be willing to talk to all count ries and offer friendship and trade and travel to all who are willing. We must take off the table the threat of a nuclear first strike against all nations.

Privacy: We must protect the privacy and civil liberties of all persons under US jurisdiction. We must repeal or radically change the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, and the FISA legislation. We must reject the notion and practice of torture, elimination of habeas corpus, secret tribunals, and secret prisons. We must deny immunity for corporations that spy willingly on the people for the benefit of the governmen t. We must reject the unitary presidency, the illegal use of signing statements and excessive use of executive orders.

The National Debt: We believe that there should be no increase in the national debt. The burden of debt placed on the next generation is unjust and already threatening our economy and the value of our dollar. We must pay our bills as we go along and not unfairly place this burden on a future generation.

The Federal Reserve: We seek a thorough investigation, evaluation and audit of the Federal Reserve System and its cozy relationships with the banking, corporate, and other financial institutions. The arbitrary power to create money and credit out of thin air behind closed doors for the benefit of commercial interests must be ended. There should be no taxpayer bailouts of corporations and no corporate subsidies. Corporation s should be aggressively prosecuted for their crimes and frauds.

Libertarian Bob Barr did not attend the press conference despite being invited and being in D.C. at the time.

Exciting Developments on the Baldwin Campaign< /font>

by Glenn Brown
Baldwin Campaign Team

So much is happening as our campaign gets more and more attention from media and supporters! The campaign has been working tirelessly to continue to help each of you spread the wo rd about Chuck Baldwin and reach our fellow Americans with the information they need to make an informed choice this November. The results we're seeing have been amazing, but we have to continue building on the successes that we've had. The road stretche s out before us these next few months, as the main campaigning time across the nation kicks off soon. The new campaign information phone number is 1-866-99-BALDWIN (easy to remember, and the extra digits are not a problem!), which has a variety of option s to dial in for information or stickers and signs.

\Chuck was just in the Philadelphia area this past weekend to hold meetings, and to meet and talk with Americans about the direction of our country. The policy choices that each o f us is being presented with by the mainstream candidates are just unacceptable, and he shared what we can do to reestablish a Constitutional Republic as our Founding Fathers intended. Darrell Castle was the keynote speaker for the Constitution Party of Idaho State Convention in Boise. The Idaho party did a great radio advertising campaign to turn out a crowd to hear Darrell share the solutions to the problems America faces.

Tomorrow, August 13, Chuck is going to appear on the nationally syndicated Alex Jones Show at 2 PM Central time, to talk about the advances in the campaign and where we're going f rom here. The Alex Jones Show has been host to many great conservative thinkers, including Dr. Ron Paul and film maker Aaron Russo. Be sure to tune in for an exciting interview!

This coming Sunday, August 17, the Baldwin Campaign and the Constitution Party are going to be live all day on Revolution Broadcasting. A variety of local candidates, state leader s, and Chuck and Darrell themselves are going to be speaking and interviewed all throughout the day. Please tune in then to be a part of this great day!

The Baldwin Campaign is planning for a strong presence at the Rally for the Republic in Minneapolis, Minnesota during August 31 to September 2. We'd like many supporters to attend , and if you are planning to be there, please let us know to look for you, and do stop by and meet many of us on the campaign team at the Baldwin booth!

The strides that we've been able to make thus far have been tremendous, and we're constantly pressing forward to reach more people, organize more events, and spread the message of Constitutional, limited Government. To be able to keep doing this, we have to have funds: everything costs money when running a presidential campaign, and we're up against opponents who are spending massive amounts to buy the presidential office. Please donate $20, $50, $100 or whatever you can, or whatever you can to help our campaign to grow, and keep moving forward to bigger and better things.

Ballot Access Assured In Illinois

Constitution Party Presidential Candidate Chuck Baldwin Officially An Option For Voters

Press Release from The Constitution Party

Grand Rapids, MI (July 1, 2008) The Constitution Party, the largest and fastest-growing party in the country based on voter registration (Ballot Access News) announced its latest victory in securing ballot access for its popular presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin.(http://www.Baldwin08 .com)

"Illinois has just been added to a growing roster of states in which voters will get to make a real choice this November," noted Constitution Party National Chairman Ji m Clymer.

"We're seeing voters demanding more options. Being told they can only vote for the Republican or Democrat in this race is like telling consumers they can only order Pep si, not Coke. The two dominant parties have morphed into one and this is beginning to chafe the electorate", Clymer added, noting: "Chuck Baldwin is on course to shake up the political status quo in November. While voters are seeing that Obama and McCain are virtually indistinguishable on the issues, they're catching onto Baldwin in a big way".

Presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin, a Pensacola, Florida minister, talk show host , author and political columnist, along with running mate Tennessee attorney Darrell Castle are expected to be on the ballot in many states garnering enough electoral votes to upset the election resulting in a win.

Utah Voters Will Hear 3rd Party M essage

Presidential Candidate To Urge Declaration Of Independence From 'Big Box' Parties

By: Donna Coe

Grand Rapids, MI- June 27, 2008- The country's largest and fastest-growing third party, the Constitution Party (Ballot Access News) announced an upcoming four day campaign swing through Utah by presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin.

"Wherever I go I hear from folks who are afraid of Obama and don't trust McCain", Baldwin noted. "Voters are fed up with the parties that now control our government... they've det ermined they have nothing to lose and everything to gain by voting for someone instead of against someone", Baldwin added.

A recent Fox News poll shows Americans are considering the third party option as never before - 47% said they'd vote for a third party candidate.

A Zogby poll showed similar numbers as voters voiced discontent with the current Republican and Democratic candidates:

Fully 48% said they are dissatisfied and the survey finds 44% would never vote for Obama; 42% said McCain "will never get" their support!

Baldwin, 2004 Constitution Party Vice Presidential candidate, is an outspoken conservative political newspaper and internet columnist (NewsWithViews.com),minister and founder of Pensacola's well-known Crossroad Baptist Church, a radio talk sho w host (http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/) and author ( http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/sketch.html).

Baldwin won his party's nomination after 74% of the delegates at the Constitution Party convention voted for him over former UN Ambassador Alan Keyes. http://www.constitutionparty.com/news.php?aid=751

"American voters are likely to deliver a "November Surprise" to the two "Big Box" parties now controlling our government... American voters have a right to expect their preside nt to secure their borders, support life from conception to its natural end, and never commit American soldiers to a war unless it has been legally declared by congress and is necessary to protect and defend this nation."

Freedom is not free but the loss of freedom caries extreme costs in money, morality and all facets of life. CHANGE is the political byword of the day. The change agenda of the two major presidential candidates is only a change to expand such things as higher taxes, more war, higher prices (gasoline for an example), valueless dollars, energy dependence, more government, inflation, open borders, colonialism and numerous ways to spe nd your hard earned dollars.

On the other hand, the Chuck Baldwin for President Campaign (Constitution Party) offers change that would reverse this headlong rush to Socialism and Internationalism while keepin g your money in your pocket. Our needed change will come by decreasing the size of government and reducing

The Campaign seeks 200,000 people nationwide dedicated to traditional national values and CHANGE in a positive direction. Chuck Baldwin asks that we contribute $50 per month for 5 (five) months which is equal to $250. He believes he can run an energetic campaign with $50,000,000. (Compare that with the, so called, major candidates who have already spent something like $500,000,000 and the presidential campaign has yet to begin.) Is this not a really small price to pay for freedom especially when we consider how outrageously expensive electing a major party (change) presidential candidate would be? Will you be one of the 200,000 people trying to save our country? $2300 is a maxim um individual contribution. Personal circumstances should dictate your involvement and, of course, Chuck would appreciate any and all contributions

NOW IS THE TIME TO DECIDE WHOM YOU TRUST!. We must win this election for America.

After Irreconcilable Differences Lead To Split With GOP, Al an Keyes Invited To Party

Lancaster, PA- Responding to news that former Reagan administration official Alan Keyes has officially left the Republican Party, (http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/2008-04-16 -keyes_N.htm) Constitution Party National Committee Chairman Jim Clymer applauded the move and extended Keyes an invitation to become part of the fastest-growing third party- the Constitution Party

"You can almost hear a nationwide standing ovation. Ambassador Keyes joins millions of Americans abandoning the party that long ago abandoned them. Keyes had the courage to say w hat a lot of folks have been thinking for years- that the Republican Party's leadership is way out of touch with its base", Clymer added, saying: " We encourage Dr. Keyes and his supporters to discover there's a perfect fit for them. We no longer have t o endure elected officials who defy the will of the people. There is an option in the Constitution Party".

Former United Nations Ambassador Alan Keyes announced his break with the Republican Party at a speech in Hazleton, Pa, a city known for Mayor Lou Barletta's aggressive efforts to stop illegal immigration.

Keyes said the two political parties now controlling our government are "a sham" and encouraged his audience to demand a return to the way the founding fathers meant it to be when they wrote the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

Keyes said the "Republican Party has come to a dark and confused place." ""Dark and confused" are terms that apply to the Republican Party's handling of just about every issue fac ing America today", Clymer noted, agreeing with Keyes. "From appalling complicity in the illegal invasion, to historic trade deficits, assaults on civil liberties and out of control spending, the Republicans have sold out their base time and again. Alan Keyes's break with the GOP is a real shot in the arm for Americans who've come to the conclusion the Republicans can no longer be considered the party of conservatives", Clymer added.

The Constitution Party, the largest and fastest-growing third party based on voter registration (Ballot Access News) will choose a presidential candidate at its national conventio n,  April 23- 26th in Kansas City, Missouri.(http://constitutionparty.com/view_events.php). Dr. Keyes is scheduled to address the gathering of delegates from all 50 states. Alan Keyes will be encouraged to offer delegates his plan for returning Amer ica to its constitutional foundation.

David County Convention Stresses Education
< /font>By LeeAnn Hansen

The Davis County Constitution Party held their convention at the Centerville Library on Saturday, 29 March 2008. There seemed to be an unplanned theme that most of the speakers at the county convention mentioned.  That is the need to bring not only like-minded friends into the party and into political activity but also to help educate friends who currently feel that every thing the government is doing is OK.

Keynote speaker Sheryl Fluckiger said we should give them milk before meat and convince them of constitutional principles rather than delve into any "conspiracy theories" ;.  County Chairman Bob Moultrie challenged every member to spend 30 minutes a week talking with friends about the party and giving them a brochure.

We were able to meet and mingle with the following candidates:
Richard D. Proctor . . .   for State Auditor
David A. Armstrong . .  for Leg. District #17
Rober t G. Moultrie . .  for Leg. District #20
Jorgina Hancock  . . . . for Senate District #23

Seth Lisonbee  for Leg. District #13 and Cory Seegmiller for Leg. District #20 couldn't come but had representatives speak for them.

All of these candidates are top notch individuals who are capable of doing a great job if elected. I wish all of you could have been there to meet them.  I am anxious to enco urage my friends to vote for these great people.

The party needs money at three levels.

  1. Nationally we need to send money to support a presidential candidate.
  2. Statewide we need to send money to support the radio ad campaign that has  begun in smaller Utah markets.
  3. Locally we need to send money to fund the campaigns of our Davis County candidates.

All funds may be sent to:

Constitution Party of Utah
P. O. Box 1215
Bountiful, UT  84010

Reldon White, the party's state treasurer, will allocate the funds. Just send a note with your check stating where you want you donation to go. Bob Moultrie suggested that we each contribute $20 per month beginning now through October. We have 205 known members in the county  so if we each just gave $3 per month ($1 per category) that would be $1,435 for the national campaign, plus $1,435 for the state campaigns, plus $ 1,435 for our six county candidates!!!

Please set yourself a goal of $20 per month or even $3 per month if that is all your budget can spare  then all of our candidates can have a respectable campaign. With all th e donations to the county we will work with candidates to produce some good quality flyers.

Jill Hudson and VeAnn Bean are forming a committee to sponsor a float in the summer parades. If you want to help call Jill, VeAnn or e-mail me (leeannhansenusa@yahoo.com) and I will forward your message.

We will have flyering parties on October 25th and November 1st.  So put those dates on you calendar.

Salt Lake County Constitution Party Hosts a Successf ul Convention
Theme: "You Can Make a Difference"
By Leonard Olds

Forty-seven party delegates from 25 of the 30 Legislative Districts in Salt Lake County gathered at the Salt Lake Community College in Sandy on March 29 in the Nominating Conventi on which is held in even number years. Enthusiasm was high as the delegates noted that the County Party has fielded more candidates this year than ever before, some 25 in all.

dates2008The highlight of the Convention was when 93-year old Barbara Benton addressed the meeting. In announcing her candidacy for Legislative District 34 seat, she noted that if a 93 year old lady can make a difference, you can too.

The Convention keynote speaker was State Vice Chairman David Perry who introduced the Convention Theme noting the tremendous progress the party has made in the past two years. He reaffirmed his commitment to making a difference by wining his race for District 45 House Seat.

Our State Party Chairman Frank Fluckiger described the impact the Utah Constitution Party is having in the Nation. With Salt Lake County's monthly commitment of $350 to the Presid ent's club, Utah's Presidential commitment has reached $1,500 which will be one of the largest commitments nationally. Frank noted the impact this will have by allowing our Party to put a true conservative on the Presidential ballot. He also contrasted t he current loss of freedom in the United States with that experienced by his grandfather in Germany just prior to World War II. He explained that many of his German friends have commented on the significant parallels between these two time periods.

Mississippi Constitution Party Sets Record!

(From Ballot Access News)
November 7th, 2007

On November 7, the Constitution Party nominee for Agriculture Commissioner, Paul Riley, polled approximately 7.0% of the vote. He had both a Democratic and a Republi can opponent. With 99% of the votes counted, Riley has 49,382 votes. The Republican nominee has 356,483 and the Democratic nominee has 295,151.

This is the highest percentage of the vote for a minor party candidate for state or federal office in Mississippi in at least 100 years, if one is including only rac es in which there was also a Democrat and a Republican in the race.

Although Strom Thurmond carried Mississippi for president in 1948, he was on the ballot in Mississippi as the Democratic nominee (Harry Truman was listed as an indep endent). In 1968, George Wallace carried Mississippi for president, but he was on the ballot as an independent candidate.

Mississippi voters in recent years have been very supportive of minor party nominees, if the race was one with only one major party in the race. For example, in 1998 , Libertarian William Chipman polled 28.84% for U.S. House and even carried one populous county in his district, but he had no Republican opponent. In 2003, Reform Party nominee Billy Blackburn received 23.69% for Auditor, but he had no Democratic nomine e.

Also in the November 7, 2007 election, a Constitution Party nominee for State Senate, Parker Dykes, running in the 35th district, polled approximately 32.1% in a two -party race.

(Constitution Party News and Information apologizes to Parker Dykes and the Mississippi Constitution Party for inadvertently omitting his results in yesterday's repo rt)

Constitution Party Endorsed Independent State Senate Candidate, Dr. Robert Owens, Recei ves Approximately 32.9% of the Vote in Virginia!

Dr. Robert Owens should be commended for his independent candidacy in the 16th State Senate District in which he received the endorsement of the Constitution Party o f Virginia. He ran against an otherwise unopposed incumbent and received a very respectable 32.9% of the vote. The vote percentage and financial figures can be found at vpap.org :

The following results were reported in the race for 1st Ward Councilman in Scottdale,  a community in Westmoreland County, in western Pennsylvania:

Congratulations go out to Phillip Haddad for achieving a great result and for trouncing his Republican opponent, but he is not satisfied.  Phil, who is an activ e member of the Constitution Party of Pennsylvania, knows that it is important for the Constitution Party to win elections and he plans to win the next time he runs! He made a very serious effort this time even though his resources were very limited.&nb sp; He plans to improve his fundraising and his Get Out The Vote effort next time around.

Gaining Ballot Access in 2008

Hello All:

The message below came from Jim Clymer, our CP national chairman. The one state that is critically important is Arizona.  It appears that the party is going to have to hire professional signature gatherers to get the 18,000 plus signatures that we need to qualify for ballot position in that state. We are currently in the process of gathering signatures in Wyoming and New Mexico, but our organizations in those states are still weak, and we may need to pay for people there to help out as well.  That will leave only Hawaii and Alaska  where we still need to gather signatures in order to get on the ballot in all 13 western states.  Any funds that y ou can afford to send to national would be greatly appreciated and are badly needed.  The deadline for Arizona is early March, so we have very little time left to qualify in that state. If you have family or friends in any of the remaining states, please contact them or if you wish, send me their names and I will forward information about the party on to them.  Your checks should be sent directly to the national party and they should be earmarked for the ballot access project. Please forward this message on to all you contacts in your county as well.  We need to reach every single person that we can with this message. Once again my sincere thanks to each of you for your continued support.

Frank Fluckiger
Utah State Chairman

Dear Friend of the Constitution Party,

Did you know that you won't be able to cast your vote for the Constitution Party presidential candidate unless he is listed on the ballot on Election Day?

And are you aware that gaining ballot access requires collecting thousands upon thousands of signatures on petitions all across the country?

I am writing to you today to urgently remind you that we must work NOW to gain ballot lines.

The Constitution Party may well be the only party running a truly constitutional candidate for President past the primaries, and I need your help to ensure that vote rs in every state have the option to vote for our candidate.

Since many of you heard from me last we have started collecting signatures in Ohio, but there are five additional states in which we must start ballot access this ye ar, in 2007 - Arizona, Kansas, Hawaii, Maryland, and Wyoming.

Time is critical, and frankly I'm concerned. Most states can't be started until 2008 and then the deadlines come fast and furious. We can't risk losing any states by waiting until the last minute! We absolutely must work to qualify every state we can this year.

But the deck is stacked against us. To qualify in these six states means collecting almost 85,000 signatures. Our volunteers alone can't collect that many signatures . We must have the funds to hire professional petition circulators in these states and that will cost over $150,000.

Will you help me put this funding in place by clicking here to make a contribution?

One look at the major party presidential front-runners reminds us that at no time has the danger to our freedom and values been greater, or the price for inaction be en higher. Almost nowhere in Washington are policies held up to Constitutional scrutiny. Virtually every principle articulated in our Constitution and Bill of Rights has been turned on its head by the Bush administration and Congressional Republicans and Democrats.

And polls show that more Americans than ever are fed up - and ready for a third party. A Zogby.com poll reveals overwhelming voter dissatisfaction with the two parties currently controlling government.

Early ballot access in as many states as we can afford may allow us to entice a candidate like Ron Paul or Tom Tancredo to continue their race beyond the primaries b y seeking the Constitution Party nomination.

I appeal to you to once again help the Constitution Party by CLICKING HERE to make a contribution that will help me in the essential job of providing a political alt ernative to the Republicans and Democrats.

I have professional circulators lined up to help us, but we have a no-debt policy, and my commitment to it won't allow me to start them until we have the money to pa y them. So you can see why I so urgently need your contribution right away.

It's up to us. Together, we can return our country to the principles that built this great Republic.

Yours for Liberty,
James N. Clymer, National Chairman

We know that many of you prefer to send a check rather than donate on-line. Please c lick HERE for a printable donation form.

Council Bluffs National Meeting Propel s Constitution Party Forward Toward 2008 Election Campaign!

Date: Mon, 29 Oct 2007 21:46:58 -0400

Optimism and energy prevailed as Constitution Party leaders and activists from all across th e country gathered in America's heartland to participate in the Constitution Party's Fall National Committee Meeting this past week. The well-attended meeting, chaired by Jim Clymer of Pennsylvania, was held at the Holiday Inn in Council Bluffs, Iowa, an d focused heavily on plans and preparations for the Constitution Party National Convention, which will be held next April 23-27, in Kansas City, Missouri and, of course, for the very crucial 2008 Presidential election year.

The meeting was jam packed with highlights:

  • Chuck Baldwin, of Florida, gave an electrifying address at Thursday evening's banquet wherein, among several other things, he pointed out that the sur est way to the preserve "traditional values" in America is to elect representatives at all levels of government who are actually faithful the Constitution of the United States.
  • Dr. Jerome Corsi, of New Jersey (pictured below with Californian, Diane Templin) received a long and rousing standing ovation following his Friday lun cheon speech in which he proudly declared his membership in the Constitution Party, outlined the current status of the drive to merge the United States into a North American Union through the imposition of the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), a nd called upon the Constitution Party to lead the political battle in defense of America's Sovereignty.
  • Virginia's Howard Phillips, the Founder of the Constitution Party, presented an educational and extremely moving address at Friday night's banquet whi ch provided an excellent historical perspective on many of today's Constitutional issues.
  • John Clark of Americans for Immigration Control previewed the group's brand new documentary titled "Rule of Law or Anarchy ?" The video expl ores the dramatic consequences of the breakdown of law and order brought about by massive illegal immigration.
  • Missouri State Representative Jim Guest, founder of Legislators Against Real ID (LARI), discussed his group's successful efforts to stop implementatio n of the Real ID Act at Friday's banquet and visited individually with many of the party leaders that evening and the next day.
  • A detailed presentation was made by Convention Committee chairman, Thom Holmes, of Oklahoma, concerning plans for the party's 2008 National Convention in Kansas City next April. Timetables and rules for delegate selection, credentials certification and platform committee selection and participation were set and distributed to committee members present, and will be distributed to all state leaders not in attendance at the meeting.
  • Mary Starrett, of Oregon, the Constitution Party Communications Director gave a comprehensive overview of progress in the party's efforts to expand it s media exposure and to reach the voters through alternative media, particularly the Internet. She announced that a new YouTube link has been established for Constitution Party videos at http://www.youtube.com/ConstitutionParty. Currently only her alread y well-known and excellent Constitution Party promotional video is available for viewing on the site, but that will soon change and more videos will be available in the near future.
  • Thor Call, of Utah, gave a very impressive presentation regarding his state party's development of a series of radio advertisements which will soon be available for use for the national and state parties. For an example of one of the spots that was presented at the meeting (narrated by Utah national committeeman Jim Noorlander), please visit http://www.turntotheconstitution.com/SPPRadioad1mp3.mp3.
  • The Joan Johnson Servant Leadership Award was awarded to Missouri State Chairman, Donna Ivanovich, who has spearheaded the unprecedented growth of the revitalized Constitution Party of Missouri over the past year. Donna's leadership, supported by a remarkable group of Missouri Constitutionalists, is fast turning the Constitution Party of Missouri into one of the premier affiliates in the Constitution Party.
  • The Ed Frami Star Spangled Banner Award was awarded to the Founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Constitution Party's National Veterans Coalition, Gene ral Charles E. Jones , (USAFR) ret., who has worked so diligently to establish the party's Veteran's outreach program, which is credited with bringing ever-increasing numbers of America's military veterans into the ranks of the Constitution Party. The pr esentation of General Jones award was made by the current National Veterans Coalition Chairman, Darrell Castle.
  • The Eileen Shearer Eternal Vigilance Award was awarded to one of the most devoted members to the Constitution Party anywhere in the country, Dr. Curti s Caine of Mississippi, who has long served on the National Executive Committee and who currently serves as the Constitution Party National Committee parliamentarian.
  • The Constitution Party National Committee passed a formal resolution endorsing the the National Clean Elections Lawsuit (N-CEL). The suit has been fil ed against ten states: New Hampshire, Iowa, Ohio, Florida, California, New York, Illinois, Oregon, South Carolina, and Texas. The Constitution Party warns against electronic voting in its platform, pointing out that since 1988 all but a handful of the 3, 142 counties in the US have delegated the "counting" process, done in secret, to several mega companies, Diebold, ES&S, Hart and Sequoia. All 50 secretaries of state have approved these systems. The Clean Elections lawsuit, in the process o f expanding to all 50 states, charges that the use of any computer (direct-recording-electronic- or DRE) systems which obscure ballots from the people for any period of time before a count is completed and the results are announced are unconstitutional.< br>
  • Former Ambassador, Alan Keyes, met with the Constitution Party's National Executive Committee Thursday morning and shared his perspectives on current events and political developments.
  • And, finally, attendees at the Constitution Party National Committee Meeting were the beneficiaries of an excellent, intensive two-day" grassroot s political school" seminar provided by the Leadership Institute of Arlington, Virginia. This instruction will provide invaluable assistance to many of those who are going back to their respective states with plans to run for office or to help in th e campaigns of Constitution Party candidates.

Particularly encouraging to national party leaders was the number of state party leaders who were attending a national committee meeting for the very first time. State party leaders enjoying their first national meeting experience included Ohio State Chairman Robert Owens, who, with his wife Teri, lead a six member delegation from the Buckeye S tate; Arkansas State Chairman, Tom Mayfield ; Mark Richey, the new State Chairman of the Constitution Party of Iowa (who was joined by fellow Iowa party leaders Bryan and Joan Samuel); South Dakota State Chairman, Steve Willis; and Indiana's State Chairm an, Mark Pool .

The Council Bluffs meeting, which was very well represented by states from all regions of th e country, was especially well represented by affiliates from the Midwestern States. A very effective and well attended regional caucus of the Midwestern state parties was held Friday morning, chaired by Area Co-Chairmen Randy Stufflebeam, of Illinois an d Scott Bartlett of South Dakota.

Congratulations and thanks go out to the state parties in Minnesota, Missouri, Michigan, Ill inois, Ohio, New Jersey and California, who brought the largest delegations to the meeting.

Unfortunately, not every state was able to be represented at the Council Bluffs meeting, but those who could not attend no doubt share the sentiments of Ted Libby, the new State Chairman of the Constitution Party of Maine who stated, in a message to the National Committee, "I am sorry that neither I, nor any from our Maine state party are able to attend this meeting. I know the wisdom to be gained would help our efforts greatly. You have lined up some tremendous speakers, and the experience I am sure will be awesome for all those who attend. I will look forward to meeting the members of t he Committee in person someday soon. I hope that you will keep us, and our State in your thoughts and prayers."

Well, Ted and anyone else who was unable to make it to this event, look at it this way...the re are only about 6 months until the 2008 Constitution Party National Convention in Kansas City! Every Constitution Party leader, member, activist, and supporter in all of the 50 states and the District of Columbia will want to plan on being a delegate t o that great event! Every Constitution Party state affiliate will want to plan on having a full delegation participating in Kansas City!

Fasten your seat belts, 'cause things are really going to take off now !

Convention Pick Will Add 'Wildcard' to Presidenti al Race!

Lancaster, Pa/ September 17, 2007 -  The Constitution Party, the fastest-growing and largest third party based on voter registration (Ballot Access News ) will nominate a presidential candidate at its National Convention in Kansas City, MO, April 22-27, 2008.

"There is little appreciable difference between the two parties that control government. Voters seeking a return to limited, constitutional government would not have a choice in November if one of the so-called 'front runners' receives the Republican nomination. With the exception of Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) - who has been ignored by his party -, we have 'Tweedle Dee' and 'Tweedle Dum' candidates once again," Clymer added.

A recent Zogby poll (http://zog by.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1332 ) shows Americans are leaning toward third party options.

The selection of Kansas City for the nominating convention was made in light of the Constitution Party's stated opposition to the proposed NAFTA Superhighway /Railwa y ( http://www.constitutionparty.com/news.php?aid=387 ) which is planned to stretch from Mexico to Canada through a 'SmartPort' ( http:/ /www.kcsmartport.com) based in Kansas City. The Kansas City SmartPort website notes: ''Kansas City offers the opportunity for sealed cargo... to travel to Mexican...cities... streamlin( ing) shipments from Asia (to) cut ... labor costs..."

"The United States does not need more cheap imports from China or more longshoremen out of work", Clymer pointed out.

Among the convention speakers the Constitution Party anticipates inviting is Party member and New York Times best-selling author Jerome Corsi, Ph.D. Dr. Corsi, who i s a frequent speaker at Constitution Party events, would likely speak about his latest best-seller The Late, Great USA-the Coming Merger with Mexico and Canada. Corsi regularly speaks and writes about the potentially devastating effects of the NAFTA Supe rhighway and the push to merge the sovereign nations of North America into one.

The Constitution Party convention announcement comes in the wake of the nation's largest Hispanic rights group, La Raza, warning it may cancel its 2009 convention in Kansas City. The cancellation was threatened because a Kansas City park board member belongs to the border-security group The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps ( http://minutemanhq.com/hq/).

"In keeping with the Constitution Party's stated support for secure borders and the dedicated work of the Minutemen ( http://www.constitutionparty.com/news.php?aid=195) to enforce laws ignored by our gov ernment,  we look forward to choosing a presidential candidate in Kansas City", Clymer stated.

The three-nation summit at Montebello, Quebec, was held behind closed doors, well guarded behind an intimidating fence and plenty of police, but the news conference that followed on August 21 revealed more than the three heads of state had planned. President George W. Bush, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and Mexican President Felipe Calderon all refused to deny that the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) is a stepping stone toward a North American Union.

A vote for Kevin Thompson on October 16 will send Washington the message, 'We're not going to take it anymore!'& quot;  Thompson is the first Constitution Party member ever to gain ballot access in the state. Already, other Constitution Party candidates are gearing up for the 2008 elections.

The Constitution Party is the third largest political party nation wide, in terms of voter registration. "I am a proud member of the Constitution Party for it is the only national party left that actually believes in the system of government our Founding Fathers handed down to us.  We stand together in opposing the onslaught of illegal immigration by securing our borders. We stand together in our efforts to bring our troops home by ending this unconstitutional war in Iraq.  We stand together in the fight for the sanctity of life and traditional family values.  We will bring government back to its Constitutionally limited role and off the back of the US taxpayer," declares Thompson.
